Silver vs Tooth-coloured Fillings
Traditionally, silver was used to fill and restore decayed teeth. As time goes by, the silver contracts and expands due to exposure to fluctuating temperature changes from hot and cold liquids/food consumption causing the treated teeth to crack. These cracks start small but eventually grow, causing sensitivity when biting and can eventually lead to tooth fractures and prolonged trips to the dentist.
A more proactive and preventative approach is to extract the silver fillings out and replace them with composite fillings or porcelain veneers.
